The Formula 1 on water is back and ready to amuse Newyorkers

The Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix returns to the Big Apple for the third time on June 7–8, 2025, bringing the electrifying energy of high-speed sailing to the heart of New York Harbor. Set against the iconic Manhattan skyline, this event marks the final American stop of the 2025 SailGP season, promising a weekend of intense competition and vibrant festivities.

Twelve national teams will compete in identical F50 foiling catamarans—50-foot vessels capable of reaching speeds up to 60 mph—navigating the challenging waters around Governors Island. These state-of-the-art boats, designed for both speed and agility, will race just meters from the shoreline, offering spectators an up-close view of the action.

The United States team, having secured a third-place finish in Season 1, is eager to claim victory on home waters. Meanwhile, Australia, the inaugural New York event winner, and New Zealand, last season's champion under the leadership of Peter Burling, will be formidable contenders. As the sixth event in the 2025 season, the New York Grand Prix is pivotal for teams aiming to secure their positions in the championship standings.

Race festivities will unfold over two days:

  • Race Day 1 | Saturday, June 7

    • SailGP Race Stadium: 1 PM – 6 PM ET

    • Race Times: 3:30 PM – 5 PM ET

  • Race Day 2 | Sunday, June 8

    • SailGP Race Stadium: 1 PM – 6 PM ET

    • Race Times: 3:30 PM – 5 PM ET

Spectators can enjoy the races from various vantage points, including Battery Park in Manhattan, which offers clear views of the F50s speeding past landmarks like the Statue of Liberty. Governors Island will host the Race Village, featuring local food vendors, live music, and a festive atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for families and fans to immerse themselves in the event.

Tickets range from $43 to $500, catering to a variety of experiences from general admission to premium hospitality packages. For those unable to attend in person, SailGP provides live streaming options, ensuring fans worldwide can witness the high-octane races.
